It's time to say "Hello"!

Making a “Hello World” program is a tradition amongst programmers. Basically it’s proof that you have a new language or system set up and ready to go, usually by making it say a message such as “Hello, World!” The tradition was adopted from a 70's book on the C language and it has stuck around through the decades.

There are so many languages out there for programming and so many types of apps you can make. Websites and games and operating systems and apps and utility programs and firmware code and… a near infinite list for sure.

The first objective is to get you all set up and ready to go, as well as earn some confidence! Once you see that you can do it, everything else will become easier. The first hurdle is just getting started and that’s what we’re here to do.

There are a ton of platforms and coding paths you can go down in your learning as we discussed above, and I want to give you options for what you want to learn the basics with. If you try something and decide you don’t like it, don’t fret or feel trapped! You can always just come back here and go through the other lessons for other paths.

Everything will sync back up when we cover abstract concepts useful throughout all of programming, and then we will break back out again to specific lessons. Feel free to explore whatever or however many you’d like and go at your own pace. This is all for your learning after all. If you can’t decide, just choose at random! Your adventure starts here.

Don't worry if you get lost going through these lessons! The full code for each one will be at the end of the lesson! Don't stress 😃 it's all about the journey of learning. 💖
